I believe that men report rape at less than women because they feel more embarrassed and are afraid of someone will make fun of them for not being man enough to protect themselves from assault. I believe women and men see sexual harassment and sexual assault differently. When we are young everyone was taught about private areas and how they are your only and your body is yours only. But at about teen years things change. Girls and women continue to get the same message through out life about men and personal space. And boys not so much.
For example let say someone has twins a boy and a girl. they both come home and say the same thing. Someone tried to hug me and i didn’t want them too. If a girl tells her father this he is ready to fight and protect his daughter. Whereas with his son his message may be different. The first words out of his mouth maybe “Was she cute?” disregarding the part where his son says he didn’t want it. Men through society has been groomed to see all touching from women as acceptable even when they are uncomfortable. Mainly because they don’t want to be made fun of by other men. I think this is the reason why cases of rape and sexual assault goes unreported by the male population.

Identify people of relevant influence

Dilemma: You are a social worker in a Veterans Affair ( VA) Hospital in East Los Angeles. The VA, a federal organization established in 1920. Provides people who have served in the military with a wide range of services to enhance their overall health and welfare services; include those directed at physical and mental illness, vocational training, financial assistance, and a host of others. Specifically, you work in a unit that provides short -term housing and alcohol and other drug-abuse (AODA) Treatment for homeless veterans. You’re finding that more and more of your clients come to you and tell you they simply can’t find any full-time jobs, even for minimum wage. You find yourself thinking more frequently, “Even a full-time minimum wage job is pretty much a bummer in terms of taking care of yourself”
The issue, you believe, boils down to adequate job training. Why can’t the VA provide educational and vocational training or finance the purchase of this training through some other agency? You have looked for resources to help your clients get back on their fee. They need work that is relatively permanent, provides an adequate standard of living, and enhances their self-esteem. What you and your clients really need is a job training program with a strong educational component. But there isn’t one. Now what?

Social Work Practice – Case Study in Singapore.

Yusof
Ibrahim and his wife, Lily Neo, both 38 have been married for 10 years.
Their extended families were initially not in favour of their
relationship due to the differences in their race and religion.

Yusof
is an Indian Muslim while Lily is a Chinese and a freethinker. They had
first met when they were training to become teachers at the National
Institute of Education. After much convincing, the couple tied the knot
with the blessings of both sides of the family.

The
couple have two children, Shahan aged 10 and Shasha, aged 4. Things
were working well for the couple till Shasha was diagnosed with Autism
about 6 months ago. Yusof decided that it may be best for Lily to quit
her teaching job to fully take care of the children while Yusof
continues his teaching job. Lily had no choice but to go along with this
plan. She decided to put on hold her lifelong ambition of becoming a
principal.

The
family used to have an Indonesian helper, Iva to care for the children
while the couple were at work. However, she had to suddenly leave to
attend to her own children back in Indonesia because of her mother’s
sudden demise. Her mother used to be the main caregiver of her two
children aged three and two. Yusof and Lily were thereafter unable to
find a replacement due to the restrictions of Covid-19 on domestic
helpers.

The
first few months were rather tiring for Lily. She struggled with having
to cook, clean and attend to every need of Shahan and Shasha. Lily’s
every attempt to discipline Shasha did not seem to work. Lily hoped to
learn more about handling her child with special needs but was caught up
with a lot of other basic chores. The couple enrolled Shasha in several
early intervention classes. Lily had to send the girl to these classes
and rush back to complete the daily routine of household chores. Day by
day, Shasha was getting a little more difficult to handle. Lily felt
rather overwhelmed and broke down on those occasions.

The
couple’s parents occasionally come by to take care of the 2 children.
However, they are unable to commit to fully taking over as they are
gainfully employed. Lily often has to manage the different parenting
style of her in-laws. They are very lax and do not stick to the
structure she had set for the children. This becomes a greater challenge
for Lily in managing her children after they leave.

Lily
usually speaks to Yusof about her struggles. Yusof often brushes it off
as something not so important. He wishes he could just have some time
to unwind after a long, busy day at school. Moreover, he has also been a
little worried lately about his dwindling savings and increasing
expenses, especially with the special classes for Shasha. He often locks
himself in his room playing online games.

Last
week, Lily received a call from Shahan’s form teacher, Ms Tan. She
raised concerns over his lack of attention during class. According to
her, he used to be a diligent and active child. She had also noticed
that he had not been submitting his homework on time. She had spoken to
Shahan briefly and he had shared that nobody loves him at home anymore.
Ms Tan had suggested that Lily and her family seek counselling at your
centre.

Demonstrate
and explain how being attuned to culture is crucial when working with
multi-racial couples such as Yusof and Lily. Outline THREE (3) things
that you need to bear in mind when working with this family.

Name: Ima Student
Date: February 2, 2023
Class: BRE-101-80819
My Education
In high school, I took classes in accounting and journalism. Prior to attending college, I worked at Wendy’s Hamburgers and attended classes for customer service and sales training. Once I decided to attend Victor Valley College in Fall 2020, I enrolled in BRE-100, Real Estate Principles, and BRE-101, Real Estate Practice. I also plan to complete BRE-126, Real Estate Finance, and BRE-142, Real Estate Marketing in the Spring 2021. I currently work at Dillard’s Clothing part-time and participate in managerial training courses.
Once I complete my VVC classes this academic year, I will have finished the three courses needed to qualify for the 9-unit Real Estate Certificate. I will continue taking two more real estate courses to earn the 18-unit Real Estate Certificate. My goal is to own a real estate brokerage so I will also take some business courses at VVC. Next, I will earn my A.S. degree in Real Estate from VVC by Spring of 2022. Currently, I do not plan to transfer to a 4-year college, but am considering applying to CSU San Bernardino with a business major and real estate minor.
My Experience
When I was in high school, I taught Sunday School to the kindergarten class at our church. I also provided child care for two neighboring boys. Their mom gave me a good reference and that helped me get my first real job working at Wendy’s Hamburgers. I worked at the cash register, prepared meals, and washed dishes. In college, I worked at Dillard’s in the shopping mall, where I sold clothing and household goods to customers. For two months I received the award “top salesperson of the month” out of 11 employees.
When I taught Sunday School, I learned how to explain concepts, listen to my students, and have patience. Those are all important skills I will need when advising real estate clients. Working at Wendy’s taught me customer service skills, as well as communication, counting money, and handling cash. I had to follow many procedures to earn a good review. Because of my time management skills, I was always on time to work, which is critical for my success in the real estate industry as well. At Dillard’s, I attended training classes and learned how to “upsell” clothing items to customers, which is an important sales skill that will help me in my real estate career. When customers were dissatisfied, I had to solve their problems and ensure they were happy with their sales expe
