Negotiations Exercise 2: Olympics Coach – Part I due Thurs., Part II due Sun. – Traditional Summer/Fall
Directions: In this discussion, you will apply the principles from the method Getting to Yes (GTY) to a hypothetical negotiation situation. This situation is modified from a scenario presented in the Army’s War College where soldiers can opt into a course on principled negotiation that utilizes this same text (Getting to Yes). Here is your scenario for Forum 2:As the coach of the US Olympic women’s hockey team, your role is to put together an excellent team for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. Just as your predecessors desired, you want as many well-known players from the professional NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) as possible. Your number one target is Mary McTalented of Boston Pride, who leads the league in power-play points and is known for her lethal slap shot. She has an impressive fan following on the ice and on social media. That said, you know that the US Olympic women’s team in 2026 is likely to win the gold medal whether McTalented plays or not. She did miss the Olympics in 2022 due to injury.McTalented is getting older and is concerned about the physical stress of competing in the Olympics. Next year, her contract with the Pride expires, so any injury could negatively impact her finances tremendously as she is preparing to negotiate future deals or contracts. As the coach, you know that the US Olympic women’s hockey team is not permitted to pay players. You are permitted to be innovative and creative in finding ways to incentivize McTalented, but then other players may expect similar treatment. Keep in mind that the Olympic team needs the money generated to continue the programs for future Olympic games.Your tasks in this forum:
Part I
Part I: Present your interest-based negotiation proposal intended to convince McTalented to participate in the 2022 Olympics. Note: this is a “post-first” discussion so until you post, you will not see your colleagues’ posts. Your proposal will be evaluated based on creativity, viability of the proposal, writing quality, and its alignment to the principles in GTY. If you did not complete the reading assigned prior to this post (through page 96 of the text), it will be clear in your proposal and points will be deducted. Why do the cells in our body need oxygen? Be specific.
How do you think your breathing and lungs adapt when you’re exercising?——————————————————————

Explain two structural ways DNA and RNA are different.
How is base-pairing different in RNA and DNA?
If one nucleotide were transcribed incorrectly or omitted, how would it affect the overall structure of the protein? Create an example sequence of mRNA and proteins (using the codon chart) to demonstrate.
Let’s practice this process of transcription and translation using a virtual model. Here’s what to do:
Head over to https://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/basics/txtl/
Complete the tutorial of transcribing and translating a gene
Take a screenshot or photo at the end of transcription and the end of translation.  You will turn these in at the end of the lab.
2nd part of B
Were both pieces of DNA used during transcription?
How is the mRNA molecule built?
What happens to the mRNA once it has been completed?
What organelle catalyzes the peptide bonds between amino acids?
How would you describe the sequence of bases on the mRNA compared to those on the tRNA?
What happens to the tRNA molecules after their amino acid that was attached to them has been added to the growing polypeptide?

Provide at least a tentative thesis/goal for your proje.. and outline the major arguments or components of your proje.., including any sources and how you’ll use them.

 INSTRUCTIONS:

Try to write in third person (“This project will…”). Provide at least a tentative thesis/goal for your proje.. and outline the major arguments or components of your proje.., including any sources and how you’ll use them.
Be as specific as possible as it will allow me to provide you with feedback and final approval.
BELOW THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO IN ANOTHER TIME BUT WHAT I NEED NOW IS JUST THE PROPOSAL OF  THE CREATIVE PROJE.. WITH 200-300 WORDS
Creative Proje..:
Typically, the best creative proje.. respond to a particular topic using creative techniques, for example, producing an original artwork or craft inspired by a particular text/topic we have studied; composing music or a dance piece to go with a particular text; adapting a text to stage or video; producing original writing in a style inspired by one of the assigned texts; etc. Students also prepare a written 2-3 page artist’s statement explaining the origins and goals of the project, how the proje.. expresses a response to your experience studying the chosen topic this semester, and how successfully you feel you have realized your goals. You will have the opportunity to briefly share your project during the last week of classes (week 15).
You’re not limited to the ideas above. Feel free to run your ideas by me!
Requirements:
The creative proje..(the artifact)
A 2-3 page (minimum) artist’s statement (see the details above for what it needs to include; adhering to college-level writing standards); and including a works cited with additional research. A sample artist’s statement has been provided in the module.
You will virtually present your proj… to your classmates in an online gallery in week 15.
