Now that you’ve both read about presentations and given one, it’s time to look back and review what we’ve accomplished!First, download this document, which is a copy of the Oral Presentation Evaluation form from your reading from last week (Sexy Technical Writing, Section 2.12) that has been modified to better suite your Week 10 presentation.Week10_OralPresentation_ReviewForm.docxOnce you have the document open, watch or review your presentation in it’s entirety, and complete the survey. Be honest, but also give yourself credit where credit is due (in other words, try to be unbiased.) Under the “Comments” section, write 1-2 paragraphs summing up your presentation’s strengths and weaknesses, and note how you could improve it were you to give it again in the future.Once you’ve completed the evaluation, submit it via this page to complete the assignment.Reference:McMurray, D., & Race, C. Some people have proposed that colleges leave football out of Title IX compliance. In other words, equalize the number of scholarships for men and women but do not include the 85 football scholarships in the mix.
Is this a fair solution to the issue of equal opportunity for females? Proponents of this view contend that football is a different animal and that girls have no comparable activity. Furthermore, at large Division I institutions where the football team actually makes money, those revenues can help support other sports.
Is leaving football out of Title IX an equitable solution? If not, what other ideas would you offer an athletic director who faces increasing costs without an increasing budget? Then, do some research to support your arguments.
For each of the two papers, you will be responsible for watching a film, writing a 3 to 5 page essay in which you respond to prompts (see below), and then providing a list of “My Criteria for Quality in Film.”
These assignments are reaction papers, not plot summaries or research papers. Write what you have to say about the film, not what others have said, but know how the film was made The papers will be graded based on:a) Evidence that you are reading and viewing the course content, comparisons to other relevant films you have seen (in class and as a movie watcher); use of the film vocabulary introduced in class and college-level writing skills (spelling, punctuation, and grammar).b) Clear presentation of your opinions and reasonable explanations and justifications to support those opinions: In a 100-level course, you would perhaps be asked to write about what you watched on the screen. In a 200-level course, you are being asked to say what you think about what you watched. In this 300-level course, you should explain why you think the way you do about the film, and then justify your opinions with explanations (using references found in the weekly content in the LEO classroom).Be sure to correctly spell the names listed in the credits of directors, actors, screenwriters, and other people (to avoid “points” being taken off of the final grade for that paper). For each of the two papers, you will be responsible for watching a film, writing a 3 to 5 page essay in which you respond to prompts (see below), and then providing a list of “My Criteria for Quality in Film.”
These papers are about your observations, insights and evaluations not only what you can learn by reading up on the film or the filmmaker. Do not just repeat what you find online. Think carefully before you write, be creative and apply what you have been learning in this course.
