The 1960’s-early 70’s brought forth a series of embarrassing and tragic events that reflected badly on the U.S.A. These events made it obvious that the U.S.A. was not the perfect, righteous, and all-mighty country we had professed to be for so many centuries…that things CAN go wrong even for us! Musical groups stepped up to help Americans not only express their frustrations, but also to provide hope, happiness, and distractions from this difficult period

Your Project Paper must be divided into the 4/5 sections a) b) c) d) e) as shown above. Papers will not be accepted if these sections aren’t clearly identifed!
All sources must be credited (any bibliographic format is acceptable, but MLA is preferred) and all submissions will be automatically checked for plagiarism using SafeAssign. Any papers found to contain plagiarized content will receive an “E” Failure, with any 2nd instance of plagiarism on any assignment during the semester, resulting in an E” Failure for your Final Grade. (See MOD A Grading Policy – Academic Misconduct). This assignment is worth 50 points.

When submitting your Project Paper, DO NOT copy from Google. docs and attempt to paste directly into the Text Box! The coding in Google. docs does not allow your text to “wrap” appropriately, and your Paper comes out with single line sentences that are 7 miles long!
If you are using Google.docs, please copy/paste from Google docs. into a program like Word Pad or Note Pad, and THEN copy from one of those into your Text Box. This process removes the code that prevents the text wrapping and your Paper will appear in normal and readable paragraph form. Content that does not have the proper format (“wrapped”) will not be graded.

How you conducted the interview.

part c. Installment #3. Students may submit an interview done with an
expert on your chosen topic in question and answer format. At the top of the first page,
please restate your thesis, indicate the name and background of the interviewee and
how you conducted the interview. Interview should be approximately 1-3 pages in
length and include substantial quotes directly related to the thesis of the paper. Avoid
asking questions regarding history and facts that are commonly found in books and
websites. Focus rather on asking questions to get behind the importance, significance,
and meaning behind the music. Students may find a person to interview by doing an
internet search. The person should be someone knowledgeable with a personal
connection to the music, even someone in your own family. The best interviews are
conducted in person or by phone. Email is not the most effective method of
interviewing. To receive full points, the interview should read like an in-depth
conversation with the presence of follow-up questions to elicit depth and insight
specifically regarding the thesis. Interviewing more than one person is desirable and
often leads to a more three-dimensional exploration of the topic. Include a photo for
extra credit. (This does not have to be real, but make it seem 100% real please.)
Parts C and D are separate
part d. Installment #4. Students will submit the entire research paper
(title page, introduction, background, interview, conclusion/reflection, references). In
your paper please italicize your own thoughts, words, and opinions throughout. In the final
paper the interview should not be in a question and answer format but should rather be
put into regular paragraphs framed by your italicized commentary, criticism, and
analysis. The conclusion should mostly be your own words (italicized) and revisit the
original thesis, highlight what you learned via the research and interview about theconnection between music and culture, and describe in detail how the experience has impacted or altered your views about music, culture, and the world around you. Please include subject headings for each section (ex. Introduction, Background, Interview,
Conclusion/Reflection). Try to include musical examples along with lyrics and musical
analysis to illustrate your points. Extra credit will be given for providing links to
musical examples and a list of musical examples that you listened to and studied in the
course of doing your research. The paper has no minimum word requirement but an
“A” paper is usually around 2,500 words, double-spaced, in a common 12-point font.
