Does the character have privilege and in what circumstances?

Throughout this course, we have examined a variety of different dimensions of diversity, how diversity is represented, what role intersectionality and privilege play in creating and maintaining bias and
discrimination, and how we learn our “single stories” about diversity. This final project in the course
will require you to bring all of these ideas together as you analyze representations of diversity in the
media.
On the Week 2 Assignment, you identified a fiction book, TV episode, or movie that you have recently read or watched and did an initial analysis of the representations of diversity in it. On the Week 4
Assignment, you identified two scholarly sources to help you extend your analysis of the work you
chose. In this assignment, you will build on those two assignments to complete your analysis of
diverse representations in your chosen work.
For this assignment, you will take as your starting point the conclusion you came to on your Week 2 assignment: does this work provide a positive representation of diversity? You can maintain the position you took at the end of your Week 2 assignment or contradict it. You will then provide evidence from
the work and from at least 5 scholarly or credible resources, including the two scholarly sources you
identified on your Week 4 assignment (the remainder can be course materials) to support your thesis.
Please be sure to do the following:
1. Provide an introduction that includes the author and title of the fiction book, name of episode and
name of TV show, or the title of the movie that you chose, as well as a thesis that tells the reader
whether you think this work provides a positive representation of diversity.
2. Include a brief (at least 250 words) summary of the book, episode, or movie.
3. Discuss whether you think the cast of characters in this book, episode, or movie is diverse. To back up your discussion, identify 3 characters from the work and do the following for each:
a. Provide a brief (1-paragraph) description of the character, including what they do for a living,
relationship status, role in the work (main character, minor character, comic relief, etc.), and anything else you think is important in understanding the character.
b. Is the portrayal of the character stereotypical? Why or why not? Provide specific examples from their dialogue or actions.
c. Does the character have privilege and in what circumstances? Provide specific examples from their dialogue or actions.
d. Is this a positive representation of the group(s) that the character represents? Why or why not?
Provide specific examples from their dialogue or actions.
4. Taking a step back, consider who isn’t represented in this work. Do you think this/these groups
were left out intentionally? In other words, would it affect the story to include them?
5. Finally, consider why representation of diverse groups is important. Draw on your resources to
construct an argument for greater inclusion. Does this argument extend to other areas of life (such as in the workplace, in schools, etc.) beyond fictional representation? Why or why not?
6. In your conclusion, reiterate your thesis statement and summarize the main points of your paper.
Essay Formatting:
The essay should be 1000-1500 words long and double-spaced with 1-inch margins.
Use and cite at least 5 resources, including two from your own research. The remainder may be required resources from any of the weeks in this course. You may also use additional scholarly or credible sources.
Use in-text citations in APA (American Psychological Association) style.
Record all source documents cited in a references list at the end of your paper, also in APA format. Follow bibliographic formatting as shown in UMGC’s Online Guide to Writing and Research (https://www.umgc.edu/current-students/learning-resources/writing-center/online-guide-to-writing/index.cfm)

Design an approach to developing and retaining team/employee in an international context
You must consider theory which underpins the development and retention of employees, as well as draw on real and practical examples of the challenges that exist and also how the effective development and retention of valued employees can be managed. You must demonstrate a balance between the analysis of relevant theory and how this can be practically applied (or not as may be the case), as well as what is being achieved by international organisations in this area. Add diagraphs where necessary .

esearch and Analysis Papers GuidelinesYou are required to write 2 research and analysis papers during the semester. These are called libraryassignments on the class syllabus as you will be required to do research using FNU library onlinedatabase aside from your own analysis of the art pieces. Each research/analysis paper needs to be at least1000 words, double-spaced, 12 points, in Times New Roman font.Research and analysis paper # 1After watching the Art Terms (Part A- paintings) video (Week 1 folder) and Art Terms (Part B-Sculpture) Video (Week 2 folder), you will go to a museum or exhibition and choose a painting and asculpture. One of the purposes of this assignment is to expose you to the art world. Seeing art in person isvery different from seeing it through a screen; therefore, this is an essential component of the assignment. The library assignment #1 needs to be submitted at the end of week 3.See the instructions below:Requirements:- See a painting and sculpture in person (not online). You need to show proof you saw the art inperson. You need to attach a photo of your paid ticket (or add the image after the references), andif the exhibition is free, a picture of you at the place will suffice. Papers without proof ofattendance will not be accepted.- Attach (or add after the references page) two photos, one of the painting and one of the sculpture,so that I can see what you describe in your analysis.Formatting of the paper:TitleIntroduction (5 points): Introduction paragraph. Remember that in the introduction, youneed to tell the reader what you will be doing for the rest of the paper. Who or what will you bewriting about? Tell the reader what the document will contain (research and analysis). The readerneeds to finish the introduction paragraph (s) knowing what they will be reading about, but youshould wait to give details (facts about the artist’s life, for example) until the body of the paper.Don’t add a heading saying “Introduction.” It’s not necessary.Research (you could change this heading to something more interesting, but separate theresearch section from the analysis section by adding bold headings as you see here ) – 40 pointsHere you will have 1 -2 paragraphs with research information about the artists. If theartists are contemporary, and our library database does not have information about the artists, you can research the artists’ style instead or another artist who has influenced the artists (orchoose what you would like to research as long as it still relates).
You can add information about the artist you find on their website, for example, but youalso need to include peer-reviewed articles or books/ebooks. Therefore, you need to use ourlibrary database for that. Our online library has an option for checking “peer-reviewed articles.”What is a peer-reviewed article? Check out this link:https://www.angelo.edu/library/handouts/peerrev.phpWikipedia is not recommended for research papers because anyone can contribute to it.Please don’t use Wikipedia as your source of information for these assignments. It is imperative to add in-text citations at the end of each of the paragraphs. A “citation”is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. Italso gives your readers the information necessary to find the location details of that source on theReferences page. For this paper, you will use the APA style of writing. In APA, a citation mustinclude a set of parentheses -> (Last name of the writer, year of publication). See links at the endof these guidelines to review APA.Points division: 20 points for the research about the painter and 20 points for the researchon the sculptor. If the artist did both pieces, you can do the 2 paragraphs on that artist only.Analysis (you could change this heading to something more interesting) – 40 pointsOne paragraph (at least) with your analysis of the painting. This is the time to show youhave learned something from the video lectures. As you describe the painting, mention at least 5art elements. See the art terms video lecture in the week 1 blackboard folder.Another paragraph (at least) with your analysis of the sculpture. As you describe thestatue, mention at least 5 sculptural elements. See the sculpture terms video lecture in the week 2blackboard folder. Some terms can be used for both paintings and sculptures. However, I will give youpoints for mentioning 10 distinctive vocabulary words. Therefore, repeating a term you used forthe painting in the sculpture analysis will not affect your grade negatively. Still, I will not countit twice toward the minimum of 10 needed. You will receive 4 points for each term you employfor a total of 40 points. There is no need to add in-text citations in the analysis section unless you add facts youlearned through the research (which is fine to do). However, the main purpose of this section isfor you to apply the knowledge obtained in class. Conclusion (5 points): A conclusion is an integral part of the paper; it provides closurefor the reader while reminding the reader of the contents and importance of the paper.
APA-styled papers end with a concluding paragraph(s) followed by the list of referenceentries. The concluding paragraph(s) appear at the end of the body section without the headingof “Conclusion” and includes information about findings or conclusions revealed through theresearch process. This is not the time to mention new information but to summarize and giveyour conclusion.I tried to emulate how you will set up your paper with bold subheadings flushed to theleft and indentation at the beginning of each paragraph. Also, use double space (which I did notapply here).References- 10 points (5 points for in-text citations, 5 points for full citations on the reference page)- You need to use a minimum of 2 sources (not including our class textbook, although thetextbook can be used as a third source).- Add a page titled: References (It has to be on a separate page regardless of how muchspace you have after the conclusion).- Here, you need to add all the resources you used using APA style.- All the in-text citations need to be matched to one of these references. In other words, ifthere is an in-text citation in the body of the paper, there needs to be a complete citationfor it on the Reference page and vice versus.- These links will guide you. You can also ask me any questions:APA In-text citation:https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/in_text_citations_the_basics.htmlHow to format the references:https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/reference_list_author_authors.html(notice that depending on the source type, there is a different way of formatting the reference. Thelink above is for books, but to the left of the webpage, you will see tabs for different types ofsources. Also, our library database has a way of generating this for you, which is one of thebenefits of using our library database. Ask me how if you don’t know).Include the youtube video (unless you watched it in person) on the Reference page. You can alsocite youtube videos:https://www.scribbr.com/apa-examples/youtube/

Do some research online.

Please ensure your work is thoughtful and reflective
– a minimum of one paragraph per question unless otherwise stated. Doing the minimum means the minimum for a low, but passing grade. Responses that receive “B”s go beyond the minimum, and responses that give A’s demonstrate excellence and mastery. Don’t forget to include statistics, facts, and citations where possible.
Don’t forget! Facts and stats help!
1. What do you think of the idea that every employee working for a business enterprise has a responsibility to help the employer make a profit?
What is the most uncivil behaviour from a co-worker or manager you have experienced on the job?
Do some research online. Identify 3 rights that employees in other countries have that US workers do not. Or, vice versa.
