What are some things you can talk to them about that are not industry related?

TOPIC: Sports social media
You want to get started in the industry, but you do not know where to start and home to connect with. This can be extremely informal (e.g., bullet points etc.).
Step 1: Identify the industry and area you want to get into.
Research the industry and see who are the major players (companies, agencies, nonprofits, media outlets, etc.). What is the current state of the industry>
Note the history, client work, and vision statement for the particular industry you are looking for. Why do you want to work here? What campaigns and social media activities are professionals in this industry doing that is working for them?
Evaluate their social media accounts. Conduct a mini social media audit to see what they are doing well and what they could improve on. Follow their social media accounts on all platforms.
Research the current job outline. What are some qualifications employers are looking for?
Step 2: Research of Professionals
Research people you would like to connect with. Look to see if there are bios on the main website of the company, agency, or organization you are looking at. How did these professionals get to where they are today?
Evaluate how they present themselves on LinkedIn and Twitter. Are they consistent? What are they sharing? Who are they talking to? What conversations are they engaging in? Are they participating in any Twitter chats you want to be a part of?
Are there any connections, similarities, or experiences you share with these professionals?
What are some authentic connections you share with these professionals? What are some things you can talk to them about that are not industry related?
Outline the findings you have collected.
Step 3: Draft initial outreach message and contact.
Determine which platform would be best for reaching out to these professionals.
Evaluate your own digital presence. Are you consistent and showing your true and authentic personal brand? How would others perceive your digital footprint? Revise and update if necessary to present the best and true first impression online.
Draft an initial note (formatted for the platform) to connect with others.
Discuss why you are connecting with them.
Keep it short and to the point.
Don’t go for the hard sell—talk about why you want to learn more about their journey and experience. Ask how they got to where they are today.
Edit, check for grammar and spelling, and edit again.
Step 4: Reach out.
Take the initial step to reach out to the professional. This will all depend on the platform. Twitter is a great way to connect and start a conversation, and LinkedIn is great to get professional advice.
Determine what your objective is (connection, mentorship, possible job opportunity, meet for virtual coffee, etc.).
Discuss what the result of the exchange was. Did this professional follow you on Twitter? Did they accept your LinkedIn connection? Were you able to set up a time to do a virtual chat? Discuss what happened during this exchange.
Evaluate the experience. What did you learn from this activity? What would you do differently? What did you feel you did right? What are some best practices you learned in the process?
Discuss next steps. What are some next steps you will be taking based on the experience you had here? List three more professionals you will reach out to on social media based on this experience.

How can you turn your “because” insights into productive actions?

Textbook: Looking Out Looking In Ronald B. Adler & Russell F. Proctor II Cengage (available online)
Activity 1:
Playing Dear Abby (Chapter 9, Communication & Relational Dynamics).
Many advice columns tackle interpersonal issues. Go to one of the “Dear Abby” websites by columnist
Abigail Van Buren. Once on her website, pull up several of the columns. Look for examples for each of
the following:
1. Why we form relationships: Does the questioner talk about appearance, similarity, complementarity,
reciprocal attraction, competence, disclosure, proximity or rewards? Give an example of each one you
2. Find a column that addresses dialectical tensions? For example, connection versus autonomy: For
example, an adult with a parent who treats that adult like a child? Predictability versus novelty: For
example, a romantic relationship where one partner wants to try something that makes the other partner
uncomfortable? Openness versus privacy: For example, a person asking the advice columnist if or how he
or she should tell someone something. Relate the dialectical tension to the behavior and discuss.
3. Find a column that addresses male and female intimacy styles. After reading pages 279-280 in the
textbook you should be able to locate a column about expressing caring such as sharing thoughts and
feelings, shared activities, doing favors, and so on.
4. Write a 2+ pg. (double-spaced) report addressing each of the above
Activity 2:
Having the Will to Change (Chapter 3, Identity & Presenting the Self)
This option demonstrates how an obsolete self-concept becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that may keep
the student from growing. It also helps students understand the many ways they can change and develop
their communication habits.
1. First, generate a list of “I can’t” statements. For example, “I can’t pass math,” “I can’t keep my
apartment clean.” I can’t find time to spend with my children/friend/spouse/partner.” Analyze the
statements by replacing the “I can’t” portion with “I won’t because ______” or “I haven’t yet because
_____.” Include these in your typed report.
2. In a 2+ page report relating to chapter 3 of the text, include discussion on the following:
A. What did you discover about the differences between being unable and unwilling to do
B. What are some of the negative consequences that result from believing you ‘can’t” do
C. How do “can’t” and “won’t” affect our abilities to accomplish goals?
D. How can you turn your “because” insights into productive actions?
E. What did you learn about yourself from doing this activity?

What adjustments should your organization make to be sustainable during these challenging times?

This is a group project where I am only responsible for the recommendation portion of it.

If your group prefers, you are welcomed to change the name of the company.
I am attaching a sample as well as what our group has already come up with

Briefly explain the issue and target population.

I have already finished two parts of the paper, I only need the third part, which is the “identify key messages”. I will upload the first assignment(which is Campaign paper part1), and the unfinished campaign paper part2.
below is the requirements of this paper:
Part 2 Description
For Part 2 of the Health Communication Campaign project, you will identify and explain relevant health communication theories and/or scholarly research articles that apply to your campaign. Keep in mind that one of the goals of this assignment is to help you work towards your final health communication campaign (part 4 of the overall project). Thus, thought and effort put into this assignment should help you develop a higher quality overall project. For part 2, you will write a paper that discusses theory and research that informs your overall health communication campaign.
Part 2 of the project focuses on a theory and research, and to discuss both of these you will write a paper that identifies and explains theory and research articles. Your paper should be organized around the sections I’ve identified below, I’ve also provided some general questions/content that you should have in each area.
Overview-In this section, you should first provide an overview of your campaign. Briefly explain the issue and target population.
Theory and Research-Identify relevant theories and/or research that you think will inform your health campaign. For example, you could identify a particular theory or article that connects with your campaign or perhaps a theory that interests you. Next you should explain/summarize that theory or article, using proper APA citation format. You should aim to use at least 3 theories/research articles in your paper.
Health Campaign and Messages-After explaining theory/research, you should provide an explanation of how the three theories/research articles influence how you will construct your overall health campaign and the health messages you will construct for that campaign. This might include particular channels you will select to distribute your message or even how the theory/research informs how you will create your messages.
In general, you will need to provide sufficient support/evidence/explanation to support the claims you make in your paper. The paper should meet the following criteria in terms of format:
Typed and double-spaced throughout
One-inch margins on all sides
12 point Times New Roman font
5 pages long (double-spaced, not including reference page or appendices)
Clearly written, well organized, and free of grammar and spelling errors
Includes your name, paper title, and date
Avoids use of extra space/lines (i.e., starting the 1st paragraph halfway down the page)
Includes a reference page and in-text citations/parenthetical citations using APA format (7th edition), citing all sources used in the paper.

All direct quotes and paraphrases from social media platforms should be cited in apa format.

For this assignment, please write a 500-700 word paper that explains:
Your favorite form of social media and why.
Your least favorite form of social media and why.
In your own experience, what kind of impact you think social media has on our society.
This can include all forms of social media and is not exclusive to social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. Writing in the first person is acceptable for this assignment, although typically academic writing is in third person. All direct quotes and paraphrases from social media platforms should be cited in APA format. For example, if you quote a Tweet, it must be cited.

Assignment instructions: this week analyze a communication event that focuses on a meaningful communication activity.

Assignment Purpose and Overview: A communication event analysis paper focuses on meaningful communication activity, describes it, and analyzes it using a relevant theory set of theories. The “event” is a communication episode that involve significant interpersonal communication activity. The interpersonal event can be real or one presented via mediated communication, such as film or television. Students will complete an ICEA to examine and analyze concepts of interpersonal communication throughout the term.
Assignment Instructions: This week analyze a communication event that focuses on a meaningful communication activity. This paper will be at least 3-4 pages in length and describe, analyze and explain the communication event. You will use an interpersonal communication theory, concept or method to analyze what you observed. Please included the information below in your APA formatted paper.
The ICEA should include the following:
1. A summary description of the event, i.e., what, when, how the event happened, who was involved, and other pertinent descriptive information (e.g., where it appeared or occurred). Explain the communication activity. Clearly describe if this was a mediated event or if it was observed in real-life.
2. Explain and provide a description of an interpersonal theory, method, model or concept from the weekly readings that will be used to analyze the communication event, as well as a rationale (explanation) for using the theory. In this section explain the theory, concept, method or model you will use in the analysis. Tell the reader everything they need to know about the concept, theory, method or model. Be very descriptive.
3. Application of the theory to the event, in other words, analysis of the event using the theory or theories. A good theoretical analysis of a communication event should provide insights into that event that description alone cannot. Clearly analyze what type of communication concepts were observed and which theory you found relevant. Explain the interpersonal situation using course concepts.
4. Evaluation of the theory’s or theories’ usefulness in understanding the communication event. Discuss the theory, concept, model or method and its usefulness in explaining what happened in the event. Provide your academic opinion of the effectiveness of the concept, method, model or theory selected when considering the interpersonal communicative event observed for this exercise.
5. The discussion should introduce communication concepts from a theory appropriate for analyzing the event and then apply those concepts. For example, a communication incident might be meaningfully understood via small group theories and concepts (groupthink, coalitions), interpersonal theories and concepts (compliance-gaining, self-disclosure), organizational theories and concepts (culture, climate), and so on. This analysis should be specific (rather than generic), thus demonstrating your ability to interpret communication activity in terms of pertinent interpersonal communication theories and concepts.
